Well obviously mine has been a few more days than 1001 but I remembered the list the other day and wanted to check back on what I had achieved and if not why!<br />Here is my list revisited!</span><br /><br /><br />101 in 1001 list

I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break and lots of fun with your Families.</div>
<br />
We had a little indoors Easter Egg Treasure Hunt, that turned into an outside one too!<br />
We cheated massively and used a cute <a href="http://gotrovo.uk/" target="_blank">Gotrovo Treasure Hunt game</a> that we got for Christmas. It has little cards with riddles or pictures on that you can then lay out for the Children to follow, easy peasy! We used both sets of cards as biggest read the riddles and then check his answer was correct with little Sister recognising the picture. <br />
They had so much fun and really worked together which is lovely to see, it also got them up and about and moving which again was great for them.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
It was Children in Need last week and Zoe has loved seeing "Teddy!" all around so I thought we could do some activities involving him. I found some great printables just by googling Children in need, including this cute bear mask on the Scholastic <a href="http://www5.scholastic.co.uk/static/children_in_need/downloads.html" target="_blank">website</a>. Zoe has fun making spots using stamp pads, whilst Aidan chose to colour his. </div>

Aidan stayed up until quite late watching the programmes and some of the videos about the poorly Children reduced him to tears. It may seem harsh to have let him watch upsetting things like this but it I think it was good for him to appreciate that he is lucky, despite his own medical problems (he was recently diagnosed with Hirschsprungs disease) there are children much worse than him.</div>

Happy Bonfire Night!<br />
<br />
Today Zo and I have been looking at Fireworks and Bonfire Night based activities. <br />
<br />
I printed off some Bonfire night related pictures from <a href="http://www.sparklebox.co.uk/blue/3261-3270/sb3262.html#.VFoLCWcfyUk" target="_blank">Here</a> and we set about colouring them in, as we coloured I told Zo the colour of crayon she was using so she could get used to the words. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I gave her a piece of black card and some beautiful, sparkly firework stickers that I got from <a href="http://www.bakerross.co.uk/?utm_content=%21acq%21v2%2132476266763-3954676307-1636008042&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=BR%20**%20A%20-%20Baker%20Ross%20-%20Brand&utm_term=baker%20and%20ross" target="_blank">Baker Ross</a>, at first I didn't remove the backing so she could move them around freely and create as she wanted to, this was also great movement for her little Fingers. After a while I began peeling the labels for her so she could actually stick them and make a permanent picture</div>

I hope your Bonfire night goes with a BANG and you all stay safe</div>

<br /><br />Little Zoe is now 2 (when did that happen right?) so I have started to explore "Playing with Purpose" with her. It's not deep thinking or Learning, it's not sitting down for hours teaching her, it's just giving her play a little more thought. For example: Giving play a theme, Halloween, Easter, Bonfire night, this makes the play relevant to the world around her or thinking of Textures, crunchy, soft, noisy, shiny.<br /><br />I did similar with my oldest child Aidan, you can see lot's of posts on what I did with him if you scroll back through the blog or by clicking on the Label "Learning the Alphabet" to the right of screen (just one example <a href="http://pinkfairygirlsflightoffancy.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/letter-of-week-d.html" target="_blank">here</a>) and I <u>REALLY, REALLY</u> think it helped him as now he is at School he is doing Fantastically. His Teachers have all said he has a love of learning and is keen to try things, his reading is excellent and he is reading at a level well above his keystage, as a Mum this of course thrills me.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am planning on updating this blog as often as I can with the different play ideas I come up with for Little Zo. The ideas won't be difficult, excessively time consuming or expensive, after all I am just an ordinary Mum, but hopefully it might help set her on the road to a life of Leaning as well as give others ideas for playing with their little ones.</div>

<br />
I got 2 packs of Value Tortilla chips (92p) which I grated some cheese (50p) onto and then grilled, once the cheese had gone melted and gooey I put some reduced Sour cream (30p) and some Salsa I had from Approved Foods (33p) on the top and voila we had a nice starter of Nachos.<br />
<br />
For main course we had Chilli which I made in the slow cooker with 1 pack of Aldi mince (£2.00), 1 tin of Kidney Beans (30p), 1 onion (8p!) and a chilli mix (38p). Served with some Value Rice (40p)<br />

Meal for 4 Adults, 5 year old and a toddler = £5.21Pink Fairy Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04029010073352558714noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1535768631083767986.post-78519888916889364402014-02-21T10:09:00.002-08:002014-02-21T10:09:21.290-08:00Saving for your Sanity!<div style="text-align: center;">
It's been Half Term here this week and Aidan has been off school, that means only one thing amusement or mischief. Aidan definitely needs to be kept occupied or mayhem and much shouting from me ensues, the trouble is this half term fell a week before both of our paydays, yikes! Luckily for us we had a few tricks up our sleeve to enable us some great Family days out at no cost.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks to the Tesco Clubcard Boost scheme we managed to visit Woburn Safari Park for FREE! I had been saving up all my Tesco Clubcard points and gathering extras where possible as I knew they would really come in handy for trips and days out. For £18 in Clubcard Points we received entry for 3 of us (under 3s are free anyway) a saving of almost £54! We took a packed Lunch and avoided the gift shop so the only cost to us was about quarter of a Tank of Petrol. We had a brilliant Family day out for next to nothing. Now I know that I had to spend in Tesco to get the Clubcard points in the first place but I have only purchased items I would have purchased anyway, eg the week food shop so I do class the things I exchange the points for as being free after all I could have spent the same money at another Supermarket and received nothing in return. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EMiAujBit4o/UweSFt1BwBI/AAAAAAAABRY/y0Uta2xQk9I/s1600/aidan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EMiAujBit4o/UweSFt1BwBI/AAAAAAAABRY/y0Uta2xQk9I/s1600/aidan.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Enjoying seeing the Zebra's from the comfort of the car!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A second trip we managed to achieve for no on day out of pocket expenses was a trip to the cinema to see The Lego Movie. Aidan like most 5 year olds LOVES his Lego so as a treat for getting a great report at Parents Evening we promised him he could go and see the movie. Now the Movies is not a cheap place to go (at least £15 for 1 adult & 1 child to go) so again we thought "Yikes!" we promised this trip now how are we going to pay for it? Luckily I had purchased a £20 cinema gift card as a present over a year ago and never actually gave it to the recipient so I packed them off on their way with some store bought sweets, popcorn and juice and they had a fantastic time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here we have a School Summer Holiday of 6 weeks, usually starting at the end of July, so that means 6 weeks of entertainment will be needed! That's approximately 20 weeks away from now which sounds like forever but I guarantee will pass by quicker than a blink so my plan (and suggestion for any of you good people reading!) is to start now by saving Loyalty Card points, buy a giftcard a week for the cinema or the indoor play place, pop money into a savings pot.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Your Children and your Sanity will thank you!!</div>

11 days into 2014 and so far I am feeling much more accomplished and on top of things.<br /><br />Whilst having a bit of an internet surf I discovered a fantastic site called <a href="http://www.theconfidentmom.com/home/start-here/" target="_blank">The Confident Mom</a> which is full of great ideas and tips to help you to be "a calm, cool, confident Family Manager". </div>
<br />
I downloaded her<b><u><span style="color: magenta;"> FREE </span></u></b>Weekly Household planner and I am so, so glad I did! It is absolutely fantastic. 2 versions are available, a blank one for you to fill in your own schedule or one pre-filled with Daily tasks.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am a "tell me what to do" sort of person with these things so downloaded the pre-filled version and have been completing each task daily. So far in 2 weeks I have managed to do lots of little jobs I had been putting off, for example our Kitchen drawers were a nightmare, stuff was everywhere and nothing could be found. Wednesdays task this week was to Organise 3 Kitchen Drawers, perfect! As I had read ahead on the planner I actually did 1 drawer at a time rather than all in one go, this meant I only needed to set a side a few minutes rather than a huge chunk of time, job done!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Amongst other daily tasks here is a list of what I have achieved in 2 weeks using the planner and doing a few tasks each day:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 cars washed</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Coat Cupboard tidied and organised</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Disinfected Hair brushes</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Organised 3 Kitchen Drawers</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Meal Planned weekly</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Flipped all mattresses</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finished Thank you notes</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Packed away Christmas decorations</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cleaned out freezer</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Uploaded and organised Christmas photos</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cleaned Toaster</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cleaned Microwave</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Organised pantry shelf</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Dusted and hoovered living area x2</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Dusted and hoovered Bedrooms x2</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cleaned cooker hood</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cleaned refridgerator shelves</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cleaned Bathroom x 4</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Changed all beds x2</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now I don't know about you but I know for a FACT I would not have achieved half of that without this planner.So far I cannot recommend it enough and I actually think I can stick to this schedule as it takes such a little amount of time each day.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And just a reminder the planner is<span style="color: magenta;"> FREE!!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It can be downloaded <a href="http://www.theconfidentmom.com/services/classes-products/household-planner-sales-page/" target="_blank">here</a></div>

So here we are at the end of 2013, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This has been a hectic year, I have felt overwhelmed for much of it, drowning in day to day life. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's not a nice feeling. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Christmas even was not particularly enjoyable, rushed and stressful trying to make sure everything was done and pleasing guests ageing from 1 - 86 and everything in between is hard work I tell you! I have felt that I have not pleased anyone this year, not even myself. The children received some lovely gifts but the actual quantities were obscene, they were both overwhelmed by the quantity of presents and in the end it became almost a chore to be opening more gifts. I do realise this sounds awful and ungrateful and of course we are not, in actual fact its quite the opposite as I feel the Children, particularly Aidan, did not get to truly appreciate the gifts that friends and family had worked hard to pay for and spent time choosing for them. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
With all this in mind I have decided to try and give "experience's" rather than STUFF as my gifts for people this year. Hopefully using Groupon and other deal sites I can provide my Family and Friends with an enjoyable day out rather that another item to be put in a cupboard or on a shelf. I have started already by purchasing my Uncle a meal for 2 at a little Italian Restaurant and my cousin a day paint balling with 5 friends. Total for both gifts has been £25 so no more than I would have spent on STUFF.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In 2014 I hope to simplify life a bit, possibly even dare I say it be a little more selfish, by doing things that suit me and my immediate Family of 4 and not always doing what e<b>veryone else</b> wants <b>US</b> to do. I want to try and cut down on our clutter, I want the Children to appreciate things more and probably this will be achieved by things not being so readily available to them. I want treats to be treats and not a given.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To end this post I am going to leave you with an updated photo of the 4 of us, the 4 that matter most to me.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wish you all a stress free 2014, well OK stress FREE isn't going to
happen, so as stress free as possible is probably a better phrase!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I love Aidan to learn about other Cultures and Traditions and as Chinese New Year fell on a Sunday it gave us the perfect opportunity to some crafts, activities and of course some eating!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Saturday night we hung lettuce outside for the Dragon to munch on his visit and he managed to leave Aidan a red and Gold pouch of coins under his pillow without even waking him! ;-)</div>

At 32 weeks pregnant my thoughts have turned to how we will manage to function as a household and a Family in the first (sometimes horrific!!) few weeks of life with a Newborn, made extra stressful by the fact we know I will be having a C-Section which will leave me with very limited movements for at least a couple of weeks. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have set to as much organisation as possible to ensure everything we need can be found easily and whilst sleep deprived! Products such as loo rolls, cleaning products and toiletries have been stockpiled to prevent running out and mad dashes to the supermarket. Stocks of nappies and wipes have been building up nicely over the past couple of weeks thanks to some good offers and Supermarket baby events. All items are down from the loft and have been washed and aired ready for the new little person to who comes to live with us.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It would be a major oversight to not think of food, I can't imagine either of my boys would be very impressed if I told them they couldn't eat! So I began looking into freezer meals, particularly meals that could be bagged in advance and then popped into the crock pot to cook, Pinterest has become my new best friend and I found tonnes of ideas on there. I made a list of meals I wanted to prepare and compiled my shopping list, trouble was a lot of the items were quite heavy </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The other week I received a voucher from Sainsburys giving me £10 off of a £50 home delivery shop and coincidentally they had and excellent offer on Nappies and Wipes (buy a pack of nappies for £10 and get a box of 9 packs of wipes free) so I decided I would place an order. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I ordered £20 worth of the nappies and wipes which left me £30 to get as many meals as possible sorted for us. I purchased the following:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3 x Valley Foods Chicken Fillets 750g - Total Price GBP 8.98<br />2 x Richmond Thick Irish Sausages x16 725g - Total Price GBP 2.49<br />2 x Sainsbury's Carrots, Basics 1.5kg - Total Price GBP 1.50<br />1 x Sainsbury's Potatoes 7.5kg - Total Price GBP 3.70<br />1 x Sainsbury's Pork Loin Steaks 630g - Total Price GBP 4.00<br />2 x Sainsbury's Diced Onions 300g - Total Price GBP 1.20<br />2 x Sainsbury's Peppers, Basics (Colours May Vary) 600g - Total Price GBP 2.58<br />2 x Sainsbury's British Pork Mince 500g - Total Price GBP 4.00<br />5 x Sainsbury's Pineapple Pieces In Juice, Basics 227g - Total Price GBP 1.40<br />4 x Sainsbury's Long Grain Rice, Basics 1kg - Total Price GBP 1.60<br />4 x Sainsbury's Pasta Shapes, Basics 500g - Total Price GBP 1.56<br />10 x Sainsbury's Chopped Tomatoes, Basics 400g - Total Price GBP 3.10</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Total including the wipes and nappies came to £56.07, I received my £10 off making it £46.07. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Taking off the £20 for nappies and wipes I was left with food total of £26.07 to make as many meals as I could.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's what I managed to make with it:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The following are all big enough to feed all 3 of us</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 x Lasagne's </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3 x Sausage casseroles</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 x pork casserole</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 x Hawaiian chicken</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 x Chicken cacciatori</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 x BBQ Pork</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 x Chilli</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 x Cottage Pie</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And these are just little portions the right size to feed Aidan</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 x Bolognaise</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 x pork stew</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 x Chilli</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3 x Cottage pie</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 x Macaroni cheese</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 x Lasagna</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 x Veg Curry</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 x Fish Pie (I used a tin of tuna I had in the cupboard)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VpZMFUqPTZ0/UDkAFaEicAI/AAAAAAAABLA/aaElTQR404w/s1600/284599_10151354531647166_1966272183_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VpZMFUqPTZ0/UDkAFaEicAI/AAAAAAAABLA/aaElTQR404w/s320/284599_10151354531647166_1966272183_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There's at least 2 weeks worth of meals in there for all of us now, more for Aidan, all for under £30. If I get the <strike>chance </strike> energy again I will prepare a couple more.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I bought 2 packs of foil trays from the £1 shop to store the meals in and the rest are in Ziploc bags. Most of the meat items are raw still but all I will need to do is take a bag out of the Freezer the night before and then pop them into the Slow Cooker in the morning, no thinking what to have or chopping and preparing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I can rest well knowing that it is all prepared and we can have yummy, cheap, home cooked meals for the absolute minimum of work AND I didn't have to carry it all home from the shops!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just as well as I currently look like this!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Well D week turned out to be a super busy week with loads of activities which is just as well as Chris had to go away for an induction for his new job so it was just Aidan and I.</div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kjaETvbKY_s/UDij_lEichI/AAAAAAAABFg/vhDFdDoboSI/s1600/2012-08-13+15.27.09.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kjaETvbKY_s/UDij_lEichI/AAAAAAAABFg/vhDFdDoboSI/s320/2012-08-13+15.27.09.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Doggy's were a recurring theme during the week and we began by making our letter D for Dog, it was a bit basic to make so Aidan coloured him in a bit. Aidan took care of his toy pet dog, he took it for walks, brushed it and also fed it. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LYH57k_Mbwo/UDikKZqplGI/AAAAAAAABFw/KttAPjbRGOQ/s1600/2012-08-13+15.27.40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LYH57k_Mbwo/UDikKZqplGI/AAAAAAAABFw/KttAPjbRGOQ/s320/2012-08-13+15.27.40.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I started to look I saw that we had tonnes of books beginning with D, Dazzle Duckling, Dogs colourful day and lots on the topic of Dinosaurs! We read 2 a night, I think reading is really important and now Aidan will sit and listen whereas when he was smaller he couldn't care less!</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JbL2KPCHCgA/UDilzqn2WfI/AAAAAAAABHo/fFI_A7433FQ/s1600/2012-08-16+21.47.55-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="208" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JbL2KPCHCgA/UDilzqn2WfI/AAAAAAAABHo/fFI_A7433FQ/s320/2012-08-16+21.47.55-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Full list of books and Authors at the bottom of post.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Aidan really enjoys Jigsaws so I was happy when I found a set of Dinosaur jigsaws in the £1 shop. I am a bit tragic really as I walk around the store continuously looking for things for the Letter of the week project and forget what I went in originally for!</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We made Letter Ds out of paper and Easy Painters from the Early Learning Centre. Easy Painters come in little pots that are easy for little ones to grip, the paint can't flow out as there is a sponge at the tip that limits the flow so painting with less mess EXCELLENT!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_mKVtUxT8e0/UDikE-HACsI/AAAAAAAABFo/SGxBOUUJJT4/s1600/2012-08-13+15.27.23.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_mKVtUxT8e0/UDikE-HACsI/AAAAAAAABFo/SGxBOUUJJT4/s320/2012-08-13+15.27.23.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After he had dotted the shape he decided to join the dots with another colour to really make the D shape.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another little project I was pleased to find was some Dragon scratch art, rainbow colours are hidden underneath a black matt covering and when you scratch away at it with a wooden pick the colours are revealed.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I downloaded a really Fab Dinosaurs printable pack from<a href="http://www.overthebigmoon.com/dinosaur-pre-k-pack/" target="_blank"> Over the Big Moon </a>it had tonnes of things for Aidan to do including which one is different, size recognition, sequencing, puzzles, letter D identification and also pre-writing. By popping them into an ordinary clear wallet and using a dry wipe pen we were able to use them again and again during the week.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another pre-writing activity we did involved Highlighter pens which I used to write words beginning with D, such as Door and dinner, I then drew a basic picture and Aidan coloured it in and wrote over the top of the highlighter.</div>

Another £1 shop find was a colour your own dinosaur kit which consisted of 2 wooden dinosaurs with stands and also some felt pens, not bad for a quid! I decided to use paints with Aidan rather than the pens just because we hadn't done any painting for a little while. </div>

For Sensory play I made Aidan a bit of a primeval swamp using his sand tray and Dinosaurs, to begin with I buried all of his Dinos so he had to be a paleontologist and dig them out. Once he had discovered them all I set it up the next day with some plants cut from the garden, again he loved acting out Dinoland, we also smoothed the sand and made dino prints in it and then compared who had the biggest footprint.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
A fun D to end the week was Dancing when we went to my Aunties surprise 50th Birthday Party. Aidan loved dancing to the music and as I am now 32 weeks pregnant I was lucky enough that there were plenty of volunteers to dance with him! He did look quite comical dancing in the middle of a circle of about 15 women! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">O</span> <span style="font-size: small;">could only really be represented by one thing couldn't it? The Olympics! As</span> the Olympics ran for 2 weeks I decided to let this letter also run for a Fortnight, I knew I had tonnes of activity's planned so was confident I could make it last and also it not get boring.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We began the letter of the week a little bit early by watching the Opening Ceremony, as they were on so late I recorded it so Aidan could watch in the Morning. I thought he would get bored of it but the music and pretty light displays kept his attention, I must confess to fast forwarding through the parade of countries as I felt it was a bit too much for a 3 year old!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On the first Sunday after the Olympics started we had Olympic rings for Breakfast made of Pancakes, blueberries, strawberries, green grapes, bananas and finally chocolate spread. OK OK so chocolate spread is brown not black but everything else I tried didn't look remotely right so I just ran with the closest!!</div>

<br />
Once I got them out I found that they were great in so many ways for Aidan! Firstly I had him look at the numbers on the back of each sticker, I really hadn't considered that they would be individually numbered and that they would provide some great number recognition practise. Once he had identified the number I had him search for the matching number in the book but to help I narrowed it down to a couple of pages for him. <br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span id="goog_481466709"></span><span id="goog_481466710"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Peeling the backs off of the stickers gave his manual dexterity a great work out as they were quite fiddly, he then stuck the stickers in the book and was very particular about the way he placed them in! As we stuck them in we discussed what sport each person was doing and he got up and acted a few out for me!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
We worked on those 6 free packs of stickers and album for over an hour and it was a great learning tool for him, he referred back to the album as we watched sports on the TV and looked to see if he could spot any of the people!</div>

I found a really Fantastic FREE Printable pack <a href="http://www.3dinosaurs.com/printables/packs/summerolympics.php" target="_blank">here</a> at 3 dinosaurs, I mainly used the Tot pack but did delve in the others. It included some great activities including pre-writing practice, sequencing and spot the difference. Aidan loved doing the spot the differences and we played it several times over the 2 weeks, to save money I just had him point the odd one out on the screen rather than print them out.</div>

We set about making our own versions, I provided him with a (very badly) drawn torch, some glue, red, yellow and orange tissue paper and also foil. I knew how I envisaged him using them but left it up to him, luckily we agreed!! </div>

To work on some Maths skills I found a graphing game with an Ocean theme, you roll the dice and then tally for the sea creature it lands on. Aidan is all about the stickers so I made some fish shape ones out of blanks for him to stick onto the correct column, first to 10 wins but to link to the Olympics we did gold, silver and bronze positions!</div>

Octopus's (or is it octopi??) made a reappearance for a second time with a bit more counting practice. This time I drew an Octopus and made suckers for Aidan to stick on, 1 on leg 1, 2 on leg 2 etc. If I haunt have been a bit rushed with this activity it would have looked nicer as I would have actually cut out the circles rather than leave them square, Mummy's bad not Aidan's! <br />

Isn't it great what you can make from toilet rolls! We used some coloured tissue paper that Aidan rolled around 5 loo rolls to make our own Olympic rings which we then had on our fireplace as decoration.<br />

He also thought they made great binoculars for watching the sport through! <br />
<br />
One of the books we read was "Owl Babies" by Martin Waddell, the story really captured Aidan's attention and we read it several times as well as watching a good version on<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJe0WupukAw" target="_blank"> Youtube </a><br />
Aidan wanted to make the 3 little owls from the story so after a quick search I found these cute paper plate owls to make. <br />

<br />
I also filled a Ziploc bag with cheap hair gel, some pom poms, feathers, sparkly shapes and glitter to form a squishy yet contained surface, I think we will use this a lot as he can practice writing letters in it as well as shapes and heck its squishy, who doesn't love to squish something!! <br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another week another letter!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This week we have been doing M, I chose this letter as we had a trip already planned for this week (see later on!) that fitted perfectly.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We began with our letter M, it gets hung up in our living room and referred to all week, and created a Mountain M complete with cotton wool snow on the top. I googled some images of mountains and Aidan came up with the bluey colours based on these images.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
This was followed by making a things beginning with M poster where Aidan sticks pictures I have already cut out of magazines in anyway he wishes to make a pretty poster. I like to try and do this as much as possible as I think it gives him a real concept of how the letter fits into life.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-C4ESEwdu7s4/UBVqIziAdII/AAAAAAAAA4o/x_5BPMokdLU/s1600/581306_10151288144677166_1814435210_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-C4ESEwdu7s4/UBVqIziAdII/AAAAAAAAA4o/x_5BPMokdLU/s320/581306_10151288144677166_1814435210_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On Wednesday I made a Sensory play activity for Aidan using cheap rice I had dyed to be colourful and pretty! It was so easy to do, just add rice to a tub a few squirts of alcohol hand gel a few drops of the food colouring and shake! Once you are happy with the colour, just add more colouring until you are, leave it to dry in a cooling oven or in a sunny place. In this batch I added Glitter and its not something I will repeat!! Whilst it looked lovely the glitter made it really difficult to clean up at the end, even though I had placed a plastic mat down to catch the worst the glitter seemed to have drifted but the rice itself was simple to sweep up.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LtY3fceNH6k/UBVjA8xSCRI/AAAAAAAAA0E/sV0-mGo6HHc/s1600/2012-07-25+14.29.52.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LtY3fceNH6k/UBVjA8xSCRI/AAAAAAAAA0E/sV0-mGo6HHc/s320/2012-07-25+14.29.52.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In the tray I placed some metal objects such as a spoon, keys, a car, coins as well as some non metallic ones like a leaf, rubber letters, fir cone. I then gave Aidan a magnet and we spent time seeing which were magnetic and which were not, I also had him turn his back and shut his eyes whilst I hid a metal object in the rice and he had to locate it just with the magnet. Once this was finished I let him just play with it! Spooning it into a tub, pushing it, piling it up, pushing the car through it.</div>

We had fun playing with Moustaches on Thursday! I made some cardboard moustaches and cut them out, Aidan found it funny to model them and then look at himself in a mirror, we then played a matching game with them.</div>

Music was also represented on Thursday when we listened to LOTS of different types of music. I asked Aidan to dance in the way the music made him feel and guided him to it being fast or slow, happy or sad sounding etc. Now when I say LOTS of different music I mean LOTS! Amongst others we listened to Classical, Bangra, Irish, Pop, Rock (Daddy was thrilled to hear his Son being schooled in the ways of Motorhead!), Reggae, Salsa and I even threw a bit of censored rap in there too! I found all the music on good old youtube and just sat with lots of tabs open, once he had strutted his stuff we talked about which was his favourite and why he liked it. </div>

On Friday I printed this wonderful <a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/Mickey_Mouse_Preschool_Pack.pdf" target="_blank">Mickey Mouse Pre-School </a>pack from 1+1=1, Mickey is VERY popular in our house so the opportunity was not to be missed. The pack includes, colouring, counting, cutting practice, tracing and others all in a fun way.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I perhaps misunderstood one of the counting activities but easily made some mouse head stickers which Aidan then placed on the sheet to represent each number, eg 5 stickers in the 5 column. </div>

On Saturday M was for Magic! Ages ago I booked for us to go to Birmingham to see <a href="http://www.disney.co.uk/disneylive/mickeysmagicshow/video.html" target="_blank">Mickeys Magic Show</a>, we all really enjoyed it. We kept it as a surprise for Aidan all the way there and even managed to convince him that the surprise we had driven for an hour for was actually Fish, Chips and beans in a pub! There were the usual Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald, lots of the Disney Princesses and also the Mad Hatter, the characters were helped by 2 "REAL" magicians. Our favourite trick was when they sawed 2 ladies, one in red one in blue, in half and put them back together with different legs on! There was also levitating and several others that left Chris and I wondering how it was done, let alone Aidan! No photography was allowed in the show so just click on the link and enjoy the video :-)<br />

Our little Alphabet tour stopped at E this week at the request (who knows why???) of Aidan. I like that he is excited about doing a letter though and that he shows interest in whats next.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PthSmrIfW5I/UA7re2W598I/AAAAAAAAAxY/kgJIKACpDC0/s1600/2012-07-16+15.37.45.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PthSmrIfW5I/UA7re2W598I/AAAAAAAAAxY/kgJIKACpDC0/s320/2012-07-16+15.37.45.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So as always first project was the actual letter we are doing, I try to make it something represented by that letter so this week we had eyes. Now normal Mums probably would have bought the eyes on a sticker roll, but NO not this thrifty Mummy! I spent one evening drawing, colouring and then cutting out each eye on blank stickers!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6MyK4bG5DuM/UA7rcw4tFyI/AAAAAAAAAxQ/qmaPrtHy7XA/s1600/2012-07-16+15.32.03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6MyK4bG5DuM/UA7rcw4tFyI/AAAAAAAAAxQ/qmaPrtHy7XA/s320/2012-07-16+15.32.03.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
A great resource I have found is the TES a quick search and I discovered lots of <a href="http://www.tes.co.uk/taxonomySearchResults.aspx?keywords=elmer+the+elephant" target="_blank">activities relating to Elmer the Elephant</a> including a brief powerpoint of the story and a counting sheet for Elmer's coloured patches. We read the book and then did some of these activities, the book also gave us the opportunity to talk about everybody being different and how it was cool that we are! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another good site I have found is <a href="http://www.magictown.com/" target="_blank">Magic Town</a> which has livebooks, stories with animation and also games that you can play like matching and jigsaws. It's free to register and this gives you access to 6 Live books, of course for a fee you can get lots more, but we were happy to discover Elmer was included in the free ones!</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been reading a lot lately about Sensory play and have got some fab ideas for the Letter of the week, all the sites I have used for ideas are listed <a href="http://pinkfairygirlsflightoffancy.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/a-b-cs-useful-resources.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I got out the Playdoh and Aidan spent ages squishing it and moulding it, we chatted about how it felt soft, cold when it came out of tub, warm once it had been played with. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Using cookie cutters we made Es, and also moulded some "freestyle" ones along with some dubious looking elephants!</div>

As we finally had some dry Weather here we made our way out into the garden and played a simple game I found on a great website called <a href="http://www.theimaginationtree.com/" target="_blank">The Imagination Tree</a>. I chalked letters that I knew Aidan would recognise onto our patio, (28 week pregnant Mummy got to sit down for this one!) and I then shouted letters out that he had to jump to.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BETgswubJaU/UA7rrRpftmI/AAAAAAAAAyI/Lxx5MplsWsI/s1600/2012-07-21+16.01.01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BETgswubJaU/UA7rrRpftmI/AAAAAAAAAyI/Lxx5MplsWsI/s320/2012-07-21+16.01.01.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Excuse the shadow!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
To mix it up a bit I also shouted out words that began with the letter eg "egg" and he had to find the letter it started with, I then also did it with the letter sounds.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-770ZP4j4CG0/UA7ruZxhojI/AAAAAAAAAyQ/rMzefESSvlw/s1600/2012-07-21+16.08.03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-770ZP4j4CG0/UA7ruZxhojI/AAAAAAAAAyQ/rMzefESSvlw/s320/2012-07-21+16.08.03.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
After we had played like this for a while he grabbed a piece of chalk and began tracing over the letters I had made, I would love to say I thought this up and prompted him but nope he did it himself! Again I find it wonderful that he pushes himself to do new things and gets excited when he achieves them.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was keen to get in some maths type activities and came up with a simple sorting exercise using googly craft eyes! I put lots into a bowl and asked Aidan to sort large and small into 2 seperate pots.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
After this we did some pattern and sequencing work, I started a pattern and he finished it then we swapped over and would you believe it silly Mummy couldn't always do it and needed help ;-)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9s8VssIvmXA/UA7r7oiQVhI/AAAAAAAAAy8/g6ORmwC4u0c/s1600/2012-07-22+15.38.33.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9s8VssIvmXA/UA7r7oiQVhI/AAAAAAAAAy8/g6ORmwC4u0c/s320/2012-07-22+15.38.33.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was followed by a little bit of Eye measuring, counting the differences between small eyes and large eyes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vtz9fN1dwaU/UA7r9JJkFnI/AAAAAAAAAzE/3KZcYVR-XSQ/s1600/2012-07-22+15.42.27.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vtz9fN1dwaU/UA7r9JJkFnI/AAAAAAAAAzE/3KZcYVR-XSQ/s320/2012-07-22+15.42.27.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Last craft we did was to make an Elephant visor, as with the Tiger we did I got it in a kit from Baker Ross. Aidan manages to do all but the very fiddly bits and is always pleased with his results!</div>

Whilst I am focussing each week on one specific letter with Aidan I am also concious that we look at the Alphabet as a whole too. In this post I thought I would list some of the useful resources I have found, so I can find them easily and also to enable anyone else doing similar to make use of them too. I will update regularly as I find new sites and to make life easier I will divide them into Games, Printables and Ideas.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As I have said before money is always tight in our household so all the resources are <b style="color: red;">FREE</b>, some require you to sign up to the website to enable the download but I have not received any increase in spam emails since joining them. All you are going to need is a computer/ laptop (which presumably you have anyway if you are reading this!) and also a printer.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here we go then:</div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Letter of the week actually turned into letter of the Fortnight this
week as I had been feeling a little under the weather and not managed to
organise myself ready for the next letter!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vg16jq_tdDY/UAMXFhHIZNI/AAAAAAAAAvw/uMnc0MxbFig/s320/2012-07-02+16.00.35.jpg" width="240" /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is my favourite letter we have made so far, I love the Jungle theme and think its great that Aidan got so creative with the materials he was given. I gave him a cardboard cut out J, some Jungle animal stickers, a few leaves and also grasses drawn onto sticky paper and he created this. Look how he has made the animals peek out from behind the grasses like they are hiding :-)</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mEv4bjvoH04/UAMXoJgAZnI/AAAAAAAAAw4/6uMU8QxF-ss/s1600/558310_10151253462347166_828793229_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mEv4bjvoH04/UAMXoJgAZnI/AAAAAAAAAw4/6uMU8QxF-ss/s320/558310_10151253462347166_828793229_n.jpg" width="240" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
J was also for Jellyfish, we made this cute looking one from a Paper plate, glue and also some strips of tissue paper. Before we created we watched a video on youtube called Jellyfish rock so Aidan could understand what type of creatures they are, he liked their bright colours and the way they moved.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="160" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-S_bXsUUeaYI/UAMdbipjQbI/AAAAAAAAAxE/u0fJVKdRhQU/s320/Jellyfish.PNG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="320" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3faXiTZdjo</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Now I am not going to lie to you J was not the easiest letter to do so clutching at straws a little we baked some J shaped biscuits, I know, I know! I figured any activity that got him thinking about the letter and way it looked had to be a good thing and the fact he got to eat them made them a popular choice! I've now purchased a full Alphabet set of cookie cutters to be used for biscuits or playdoh.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_a1D3gKqoLY/UAMXm2BgvxI/AAAAAAAAAww/3QgyP-98K3o/s1600/541462_10151253461302166_862319901_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_a1D3gKqoLY/UAMXm2BgvxI/AAAAAAAAAww/3QgyP-98K3o/s320/541462_10151253461302166_862319901_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Whilst waiting for the biscuits to cook we tasted different Juice, my
camera was flat so no pictures but I lay out tropical, apple and orange fruit Juice and also some blackcurrant cordial and we sat and sipped and discussed. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p6aHrIcqh8w/UAMXLXh6mzI/AAAAAAAAAv4/dicl-uPbUIU/s1600/2012-07-03+22.12.42.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p6aHrIcqh8w/UAMXLXh6mzI/AAAAAAAAAv4/dicl-uPbUIU/s320/2012-07-03+22.12.42.jpg" width="320" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Summer here so far has been awful with constant rain so many days are being spent inside. On a rare dry moment we walked into Town to visit the Library and luckily they had Jack and Jill and also Jack and the beanstalk. I found that the <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/misc/stories/misc-jackandthebeanstalk/" target="_blank">CBeebies website</a> also had a version of Jack and the beanstalk with visuals and audio so we enjoyed that too. For older children there are lots of free printables based on the story's and I will definitely be using these when Aidan is a bit older.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
By far the most popular choice with Aidan was the Jelly Sensory tub I made for him. I filled a tub with foam letters and a few more solid toys and then made up 3 packets of the cheapest jelly mix I could find then popped it into the fridge to set. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ijux8j8xX_o/UAMXVDEzo5I/AAAAAAAAAwI/xs0gihjvLU0/s1600/2012-07-06+18.12.40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ijux8j8xX_o/UAMXVDEzo5I/AAAAAAAAAwI/xs0gihjvLU0/s320/2012-07-06+18.12.40.jpg" width="320" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At first he was a bit wary of it, in fact I am not sure he could believe his luck that I was going to allow him to play with something so messy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-24nEKtiGFdc/UAMXPexKpMI/AAAAAAAAAwA/tzypNBOTSZY/s1600/2012-07-06+18.11.30.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-24nEKtiGFdc/UAMXPexKpMI/AAAAAAAAAwA/tzypNBOTSZY/s320/2012-07-06+18.11.30.jpg" width="320" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But he began poking it around ......</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AOSZpn9BtT0/UAMXZ3pPLiI/AAAAAAAAAwQ/xXHMIPvODtI/s1600/2012-07-06+18.13.08.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AOSZpn9BtT0/UAMXZ3pPLiI/AAAAAAAAAwQ/xXHMIPvODtI/s320/2012-07-06+18.13.08.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
and running it through his fingers!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3zjko5VeWmQ/UAMXdA5-sBI/AAAAAAAAAwY/Thk6tasbweM/s1600/2012-07-06+18.14.55.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3zjko5VeWmQ/UAMXdA5-sBI/AAAAAAAAAwY/Thk6tasbweM/s320/2012-07-06+18.14.55.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I encouraged him to search for different letters and to also describe the feeling of the jelly, soft, wet, cold etc</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hBly5Nmljc4/UAMXh2_ssSI/AAAAAAAAAwg/6HoGbMhj4MQ/s1600/2012-07-06+18.19.49.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hBly5Nmljc4/UAMXh2_ssSI/AAAAAAAAAwg/6HoGbMhj4MQ/s320/2012-07-06+18.19.49.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
He pulled the tub nearer for a better feel!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QfNaKAYltLs/UAMXloJos8I/AAAAAAAAAwo/9nlBX9OOgHY/s1600/2012-07-06+18.19.54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QfNaKAYltLs/UAMXloJos8I/AAAAAAAAAwo/9nlBX9OOgHY/s320/2012-07-06+18.19.54.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
"Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh its squishy Mummy!"</div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next J was for Jet and again we enjoyed watching some videos on youtube, this one called <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1oLdM6z378" target="_blank">dancing jet planes</a> being the best. we also watched some of the Red Arrows at the Queens Jubilee from earlier in the year. After the videos he ran round the living room in typical little boy style with arms out pretending to be a Jet!</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Other activities we did were:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Coloured in J objects <a href="http://www.education.com/slideshow/letters-of-the-alphabet/#" target="_blank">printout</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Traced and copied letter Js</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>We watched:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Jake and the Neverland Pirates<b> </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Jungle Book</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Jungle Junction<b><br /></b></div>

The last week of June we looked at the Letter T</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HWcNfJwHh60/UALltxC6oJI/AAAAAAAAAu4/sVrjcABPoGw/s1600/578763_10151253488022166_317411391_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HWcNfJwHh60/UALltxC6oJI/AAAAAAAAAu4/sVrjcABPoGw/s320/578763_10151253488022166_317411391_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As always our first activity was to make an actual Letter of the week, I chose to do a Tree T with Aidan. Using thick green paper I cut out individual leaves (dedicated or what!) and also a few little red apples made on sticky paper. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--dLZzf9shLQ/UAL1K39DFtI/AAAAAAAAAvk/kh8LNbfhTds/s1600/252656_10151253591502166_102097091_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--dLZzf9shLQ/UAL1K39DFtI/AAAAAAAAAvk/kh8LNbfhTds/s320/252656_10151253591502166_102097091_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A few weeks ago I was looking on a fab craft website called <a href="http://www.bakerross.co.uk/?src=ADWORDS&cid=KSNUYSMQV7Q5BQGUDOS1Y79CN3CHOHOT" target="_blank">Baker Ross</a> they have some really great craft items including Curriculum topics and the prices are just wonderful, I purchased some Animal visor kits, just £2.99 for 5 different animals. Luckily enough one of the animals was a Tiger so with a little bit of direction Aidan managed to create this little fellow! We then pretended to be tigers by crawling round and of course roaring!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Things beginning with T picture</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had to have a couple of appointments and when I leave Aidan with someone I like to leave him a little activity to keep him amused that relates to our letter. Whilst he was with Nanny they created a "things beginning with T" picture, sticking and discussing the objects easily passes a good deal of time. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4qsQsRRNSDA/UALkbBwytGI/AAAAAAAAAuA/KWAxAiPi8GI/s1600/2012-06-29+15.06.25-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4qsQsRRNSDA/UALkbBwytGI/AAAAAAAAAuA/KWAxAiPi8GI/s320/2012-06-29+15.06.25-1.jpg" width="203" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another little project for whilst in Nanny's house was to create Ties for Daddy to wear for interviews! I just used some thick paper and cut out a tie shape before adding some loose elastic, Aidan then decorated them any way he wanted.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used the same idea again a few days later using T-Shirts cut outs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MBCaxUo2C2g/UAL1AzNDuQI/AAAAAAAAAvc/e0QLG25-Ykw/s1600/553830_10151253595197166_962842170_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MBCaxUo2C2g/UAL1AzNDuQI/AAAAAAAAAvc/e0QLG25-Ykw/s320/553830_10151253595197166_962842170_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Aidan had fun playing with the pop up Tent, set up inside due to the absolutely awful Summer we are having! He had snacks in there, played with his stuffed animals and read books.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p1l_L8E6ySg/UALkgIoeqDI/AAAAAAAAAuI/vWQTxYwVOlo/s1600/2012-06-30+12.12.37.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p1l_L8E6ySg/UALkgIoeqDI/AAAAAAAAAuI/vWQTxYwVOlo/s320/2012-06-30+12.12.37.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Trains are a BIG hit in our house at the moment, so I used the opportunity to combine the 2 as much as possible by playing with Train sets and also watching / reading Thomas the Tank engine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Luckily we had planned to visit a local forest with Friends for a day out, forests = lots of Trees!! We looked at the different tree shapes and colours also looking at their different leaves. There was a nice play area amongst the trees and Aidan enjoyed being taller than us on a little walkway.</div>

A final picture we created was of all kinds of Transport, possibly a bit of an advanced concept for a 3 year old but he got to do some sticking so he was happy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
An unexpected T that we got to experience was TRIAGE! Yep we ended up having an unscheduled trip to the A&E department on Saturday night after our little human money box decided to swallow a coin! They X-Rayed him to make sure it wasn't obstructing his breathing and once established all was well we were sent on our way to await nature! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>As well as these activities we also:</b></div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oiB3gvAe5Xc/UALl4TLz31I/AAAAAAAAAvA/jN2Z5XGmOZo/s1600/283770_449468048419778_1561900939_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oiB3gvAe5Xc/UALl4TLz31I/AAAAAAAAAvA/jN2Z5XGmOZo/s320/283770_449468048419778_1561900939_n.jpg" width="244" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well I haven't posted for a while but we have still been all go!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Unfortunately Chris has been made redundant from his role so we are currently both not working, he has been for lots of interviews and applying for about 8-10 jobs a day so hopefully it wont be long before something comes up. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Chris not working means money is quite tight here, I am managing to get our weekly shop for about £30 - £40 a week yet still managing to eat well and nutritiously. Hunting out bargains has become a bit of a hobby!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am continuing with my Christmas shopping, as the money has already been earned and set aside specifically for the purpose, meaning I am able to get some great savings for example I purchased several items in a Summer Sale including folding shopper bags reduced to £1 and also handbag size umbrellas reduced £12.95 to £1.29! All of Aidan's nursery key workers and also staff at the Surestart centre we attend will be getting lovely (and expensive looking!!) gifts that cost me £2.29!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Also doing well on the few items we needed to purchase for the New Baby, the majority of things are being reused from when Aidan was small but a few bits like the bottle steriliser and cot were well past their useful working life.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well that's a little update on life, I am going to do a couple of posts now on our Letters of the Week.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On Monday we made a Feather F to display on the wall and refer back to, we also spent some time on the laptop playing "Elmos Fire Safety Game" <a href="http://www.sesamestreet.org/game_player/-/pgpv/gameplayer/0/b0389558-163c-11dd-98c7-b9f43dcf5330/elmo_s_fire_safety?p_p_lifecycle=0&p_p_state=normal&p_p_mode=view&p_p_col_id=column-2&p_p_col_count=1" target="_blank">here</a> at Sesame Streets website. They have tonnes of really cute games on there with lots of educational themes,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Tuesday was spent making a picture of things beginning with F, including some Fur donated by my Mums doggy! We did some writing practice and he managed to write something more than resembling an F.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next project we did was on Wednesday when we made a Paper Plate Frog mask, we used an ordinary paper plate and covered it in Green paint and added a little glitter for good measure! Once dry we stuck on some eyes, drew a nose and mouth and Nanny knitted a long tongue. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A really simple craft for Thursday was to take lids from tissue boxes and turn them into fish. A little bit of drawing from me and some colouring from Aidan and we had our own school of Rainbow fish.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fireman Sam is a huge hit in our house at the moment and fits nicely with the F theme, we sat together and did some Fireman Sam sticker activities and also watched a couple of episodes. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Friday we got some use out of the Early Learning Centre Farm set, I also had a wipe clean Farm book with differnet counting and writing activitys.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2K1nwyms8fg/T-dK3f1fD2I/AAAAAAAAAtM/J_FqedyAVtM/s1600/580111_10151199602577166_1127728010_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="181" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2K1nwyms8fg/T-dK3f1fD2I/AAAAAAAAAtM/J_FqedyAVtM/s320/580111_10151199602577166_1127728010_n.jpg" width="320" /> </a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Friday was also spent at the Fruit shop where I let Aidan choose 5 fruits, he went for Grapes, Strawberrys, a Pear, cherries and a red apple once we got home we washed and chopped up the fruit and tasted them all, after we made a cute Fruit picture using stickers.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Saturday was full of Fireworks! Using some black card and some glitter glue pens we managed to make our own Firework display, ideally I guess I should have done F later in the year when I could have took Aidan to an actual Firework display but these were the next best thing. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Nafu3N9O6aA/T-dKpMzqG6I/AAAAAAAAAr4/Lban_ypqAWI/s1600/179534_10151201948207166_3827370_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Nafu3N9O6aA/T-dKpMzqG6I/AAAAAAAAAr4/Lban_ypqAWI/s320/179534_10151201948207166_3827370_n.jpg" width="240" /> </a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Flapjacks were also baked today, I didnt take a photo of them as they fell apart but as often is the case with these things they tasted delicious! </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sunday we had a release party! We were lucky enough that my Uncle and Auntie have a pond in their garden and a few months ago they noticed frog spawn, frog spawn turns to Tadpoles and Tadpoles turn into FROGS! They had to keep some of the tadpoles and frog spawn in a seperate bucket as the fish were eating them all so now they are bigger we let them all loose. </div>

Whilst out and about each day we looked for Letter Fs and Flowers all around, also Flags which at the moment with the Football and Jubilee just passed was fairly easy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b> As well as all these Activities we also</b><b> read:</b></div>

This week Aidan and I have been looking at the letter C, why the letter C I hear you cry! Why not start at A? Well I decided against the correct order as it gave me better flexibility with other events already planned, eg I knew the Carnival was scheduled for this week so it fitted with C, Police Open day is being rescheduled for September time so when better to do the letter P. Aidan can sing the ABC song so he knows the correct order anyway so I didn't feel doing them out of order was a massive issue. When planning the activity's I have tried to include things to taste, things to hear (where possible), things to touch, things to read, things to make, things to watch and things to do and visits.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On Monday I got a wicker basket and filled it with lots of objects from around the home beginning with C, I covered the basket and Aidan had to pull out an object with his eyes shut and guess what he thought it was by feeling it. Once all the items were out of the basket I asked him what Letter he thought they all began with and we laid them out around a card letter C that he later decorated.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I forgot to take some Photos but on Tuesday we baked Cakes and decorated them as well as playing with Cars and the road mat.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On Wednesday I needed an activity to amuse him whilst we visited my Grandmother, so the night before I cut out pictures of things beginning with C from Newspapers and Magazines that he could look at and stick onto a poster to be displayed at home. We then further decorated the Poster by using Glitter pens to practice writing Cs.</div>

<b>Other Activities I had planned but did not get round to:</b><br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Making a Paper plate Cat<br />
Making a rock crab<br />
Visit the Carnival, it got cancelled due to bad weather :-(<br />
Drawing with Chalks in the garden, again rain stopped play<br />

Visit a Car wash<br />
Buy and look after a Cactus<br />
Indoor Camping Trip (tent up in Living room!) <br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
It really has worked as Aidan is much more confident with the letter C now and shouts when he sees one, he was thrilled (so was I!) when he spotted one on Countdown on TV!<br />
<br />
A lot of the Ideas are my own and some I found on a Great website<a href="http://www.notimeforflashcards.com/" target="_blank"> here</a>:<br />

Next Weeks Letter is going to be N, it will be a little more challenging as we are on holiday for the week but have lots of ideas ready to take with us.</div>

Aidan will be almost 5 by the time he is able to go to school and the more and more I thought about it the more it seemed that this was potentially a lot of time wasted when he would be ready for learning, and boy is he ready to start learning! He already knows and recognises his numbers up to 20 so I am now keen to start learning the Alphabet with him and then start basic reading. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Any kind of homeschooling is still quite unusual here in the UK so initially I really struggled finding good websites with ideas and materials I could use for him that were age suitable. A couple of my American friends were able to recommend some useful sites and after flicking through my new addiction "Pinterest" I have found tonnes and tonnes of fab ideas that will help me to making learning really fun :-) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am going to start to share some of them here on my blog for 2 reasons 1) it might help someone else and 2) it will help me keep all the ideas together for when number 2 arrives!</div>Pink Fairy Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04029010073352558714noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1535768631083767986.post-19156481158295603942012-06-04T08:47:00.003-07:002012-06-04T08:47:57.508-07:00Jubilee Weekend<div style="text-align: center;">
Friday I put up my Bunting and Union Jacks, went to the shops and got meat, salad, strawberry's, drinks and lots of other yummy things all in preparation for our Jubilee Party BBQ on Sunday. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sunday arrived and I opened the curtains to discover a scene that would have made Noah run to his tool shed and start building! It was torrential rain and it quickly became established that our outdoor BBQ would have to be an indoor cook in the oven instead. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Still it all went well and as we were inside it meant we could watch the Queens Flotilla of Boats down the Thames. Kate as always looked lovely, I am very pleased she has joined the Royal Family as she seems to liven the rest of them up a bit. I did feel the Queen looked quite grumpy at times but then I suppose I would too if I was stood up on a cold, rainy boat for hours!</div>
